Six CFISD Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) units have received distinguished unit awards, according to an April 19 release by the AFJROTC headquarters.
Langham Creek High School’s AFJROTC unit, TX-20061, earned the Distinguished Unit Award With Merit, meaning its cadets scored 100 percent on every element of their Air Force evaluation—including “exceeds standards” on their unit expectations this school year, while each cadet earned eight hours of community service.
The Cypress Springs High School AFJROTC unit, TX-20016, was recognized for the Distinguished Unit Award, meaning its most recent unit expectations rated “exceeds standards,” while each cadet earned eight hours of community service.
Four additional units earned Outstanding Organization Awards (OOA), meaning their most recent unit expectations met standards, while each cadet earned six hours of community service:
- Cypress Falls High School, AFJROTC Unit TX-20003;
- Jersey Village High School, AFJROTC Unit TX-20017;
- Cypress Ridge High School, AFJROTC Unit TX-20028; and
- Cy-Fair High School, AFJROTC Unit TX-20057.
“This is an amazing feat to have 75 percent of the units in this district distinguish themselves nationally at the highest level,” said Judy Reidy, AFJROTC district coordinator. “It speaks volumes not only about the accomplished cadets and their proud families, but also for those 12 retired Air Force officers who led their units to this pinnacle of success.”
