Initially housed in a 2,500 total square foot facility with only 1,600 square feet of workout space, All-Star Matrial Arts and Fitness now fills a 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility with 7,000 square feet of floor space and provides instruction in TaeKwonDo, Krav Maga, Brazilian Jujitsu, and fitness to over 500 students. In addition, This local, family business emphasizes life skills such as courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.
David and Christy Lieder, along with their children Kris, Destiny, Jeremy, Charity, Colten, Maja, and Justin, run the business. All family members have a role at the school. In addition to the immediate family running the school, the Lieders employ 11 TaeKwonDo instructors who started as white belts and are now teaching Martial Arts.
Within the Cypress community, All-Star Martial Arts and Fitness reaches out through adopting and cleaning two roads, coat drive for homeless, fund-raising for the local “Boys and Girls Country” every Christmas, giving out scholarships to those in need, supporting Cypress FFA, Hopeline, and the military. They host a monthly self-defense, anti-bullying, stranger danger or abduction defense class free to the community. They teach Krav Maga, Israeli Tactical Self-Defense training that promotes a strong bond of confidence, awareness, and strength in participants of all ages, not just kids.
All-Star Martial Arts and Fitness has the largest Special Needs program in Texas serving over 60 students ranging in age from 6 – 63. Over 90% of these students receive full scholarships. Four years in a row they have hosted National Championships for Special Needs with athletes from 12 different states participating. They also traveled to Orlando to run a Specially Challenged Martial Arts tournament this past weekend at a Disney resort that they hope to see grow in numbers next year when it will be held at the ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando.
