The Board of Trustees recognized Sam and Peggy Ferrugia of Crane Rental Division, Inc. during its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, May 13, as the top volume buyer at the 2013 CFISD Livestock Show and Sale, held Jan. 31 – Feb. 2 at the CFISD Exhibit Center.
In honor of the Ferrugias’ support of Future Farmers of America (FFA) students within the district, Denise Kubecka, coordinator of curriculum and technical education, presented representatives of their family with the seventh annual top volume buyer buckle. The buckle is awarded each year to honor the top volume buyer.
The Ferrugias invested $63,050 in student projects at the show—the largest contribution by any one buyer this year.
The Cy-Fair community gave a combined total of nearly $700,000at the premium sale, freezer sale and in gifts to students.
“Raising an animal teaches FFA students the value of hard work, dedication and good business management. They depend upon the generosity of our community members to buy their projects,” Kubecka said. “Sam and Peggy Ferrugia exemplify the many outstanding buyers who show up each year to support and encourage our students.”
