Cypress, TX (May 27, 2016) Lanette Bellamy, the director of instruction at Cypress Ranch High School, was named the new principal at Labay Middle School on May 27. Bellamy replaces Dr. Patty Mooney, who will retire at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
Bellamy has 21 years of experience in education, including 16 in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Following secondary teaching stints in Pasadena and Katy, Bellamy joined CFISD in 2000 as a counselor at Thornton Middle School. She served three years in that role before accepting a counselor position at Cy-Fair High School, serving one year.
She assumed the role of coordinating counselor at Truitt Middle School in 2004, serving four years before being named director of instruction at Truitt in 2008. She stayed in that role another four years before accepting her current position as director of instruction at Cypress Ranch.
Bellamy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Master of Counseling from University of Houston-Clear Lake. She completed the principal certification program at the University of St. Thomas, and recently graduated from the Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP).
“It is truly a privilege and honor to be named the principal of Labay Middle School,” Bellamy said. “I look forward to working together with staff, students, parents and the entire Labay community to continue the level of excellence to which Labay is accustomed. I look forward to helping to support a middle school environment that readies our students for the challenges of high school and the world beyond. I am thrilled to be a Labay Eagle!”
