CFISD Student of the Week: Jayon Boykin

Cypress Springs High School senior Jayon Boykin completed an eventful month that included helping run the “One Thousand Guys in Ties” event at Cypress Springs as a member of the Men of Honor, as well as participating in the 11th Annual Cypress-Fairbanks ISD JROTC Pass in Review on April 20. Upon graduation, Boykin will enlist in the United States Marine Corps.

Age: 17

Grade: 12

Accomplishments: Graduate Cadet Captain; MOAA award; German foreign language award; enlisted into the United States Marine Corps; highest physical fitness level in his Corps.

Favorite class: AFJROTC. “No other class teaches you about everything in life.”

Favorite thing to do after class: Read, exercise, Airsoft, watch movies, go hiking, go camping, go backpacking.

Favorite song: “I don’t have a favorite song, but my favorite band is Daft Punk and my favorite genre is country.”

Favorite TV show: The Arrow.

Favorite Movie: “I do not have one, because there are so many to choose from.”

Ambition: “To retire from the Marines, then hopefully start another career with the fire department, U.S. Marshals Service or Texas Rangers. Keeping people safe is my life’s devotion.”

What topics/things are you passionate about? Solving conflicts without violence; preventing/stopping bullying; the military; and protecting equal rights, no matter what.

What inspires you? The events of 9/11, and my conscience of knowing wrong from right.

What three things can’t you live without? My family, my free will and the Second Amendment.
