Copeland Educator Wins Goldin Foundation Award

Cypress, TX (March 9, 2016) The Goldin Foundation for Excellence in Education, a nonprofit dedicated to recognizing educators for outstanding achievements and contributions to their schools and communities, announced Copeland Elementary School educator Sandra Burns as one of its 2016 award recipients.

0309 Goldin Award

Burns, the behavior interventionist at Copeland, was recognized for her work with Copeland’s action learning lab. Launched in 2015-2016, the action learning lab works with at-risk students and those with behavioral needs.

“It is a different approach to learning that ignites all regions of the brain which helps with recall, recognition and attention span,” said Michelle Rice, Copeland principal. “Mrs. Burns also works with teachers to help them incorporate brain breaks and various materials contained in the lab to assist in engaging the brain.”

Materials contained in the lab are resources that our teachers can check out for use in their classrooms.

The Goldin Foundation will recognize Burns and her fellow recipients at an awards reception on May 3.
