The Cypress Creek High School percussion ensemble is one of only two high schools in the nation that will perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), held in Austin.
The ensemble will perform in the showcase concert at the Austin Convention Center. Their program includes major works by classical and contemporary composers.
“Congratulations to these Cypress Creek students, who earned one of the most prestigious awards given to a high school percussion ensemble,” says Larry Matysiak, Cy-Fair ISD director of fine arts.
The percussion ensemble was one of 10 high schools to also perform in the Marching Percussion Festival at PASIC.
Led by director Doug Herrington, the Cypress Creek percussion ensemble was named Best Percussion at the USSBA South Texas State Championships. Herrington has co-directed showcase concerts at PASIC in 1998, 2004, and 2008.
