Cy-Fair ISD Cadets Successful at Drill Meet

Cy-Fair ISD AFJROTC cadets had strong performances at the C.E. King High School “Salute to Veterans” AFJROTC Drill Meet featuring approximately 20 Houston-area schools.

The Cypress Ridge High School AFJROTC unit won first place in the Academics competition, scoring 310 total points. The five-member teams from nearly 20 high schools showed their academic talent as each cadet took a 50-question test spanning the entire four-year AFJROTC curriculum in aerospace science and leadership education subject material.

This marked the second consecutive year that Cypress Ridge cadets had the highest overall team score.

“Besides marching and physical fitness, the AFJROTC program also includes a complete academic curriculum. The entire Cypress Ridge family—including JROTC, teachers and administrators/staff—are all extremely proud of our cadets’ academic success,” says Lt. Col. (Ret) Porfirio Munoz, senior aerospace science instructor.

The Langham Creek High School AFJROTC unit won first place in the Color Guard Male Co/Ed competition, with 450 total points. Langham Creek also won second place in Unarmed Regulation (635 points) and third place in Unarmed Exhibition (380 points).

The Cypress Falls High School AFJROTC unit won second place in the Novice Inspection/Regulation competition, with 694 points.

The Cy-Fair High School AFJROTC unit won second place in the PT competition, with 60 points.
