The National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY) has appointed Dave Schrandt, the director of student services for admissions, attendance and transfers, and CFISD’s homeless liaison, to serve as a member on the NAEHCY Board of Directors.
The at-large position is a two-year commitment running from December 2012 through November 2014. A member of NAEHCY for four years, Schrandt is the fourth Texas representative to serve on the NAEHCY Board of Directors since the organization’s inception.
Schrandt was inspired to apply for the at-large position after he was selected to speak on a panel for a Congressional Briefing on Homeless Children on Sept. 13, 2012 in Washington, D.C.
“It was an awesome experience and inspired my passion to promote the mission of NAEHCY to serve as ‘the voice and social conscience for the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness,’” Schrandt says.
Schrandt recently attended a board retreat in Atlanta, Ga., where he met fellow board members and worked on the organization’s strategic plan.
“I’m excited about being selected as part of the NAEHCY leadership team and I look forward to serving and making valuable contributions to the NAEHCY team,” he says.
