The Cypress Ranch High School chamber choir was the overall winner at the American Classics Madrigal Festival, held March 2 in San Antonio.
For winning the competition, the Cypress Ranch chamber choir will be a performer at next year’s honor concert. The choir is directed by Cynthia Douglas and Nick Likos.
“We are deeply honored to have been chosen as the winners of this extremely prestigious award,” said Douglas. “The American Classics Madrigal Festival and chamber choir competition has been in existence for 44 years, and attracts the best choirs in Texas. This is the second year that the Cypress Ranch chamber choir has attended the festival, with an objective to learn and be inspired by these amazing ensembles. Taking home the prize as next year’s honor choir was simply beyond our wildest expectations.”
Additionally, the Cypress Ridge High School chamber choir won an Excellent Rating at the event.
