Cypress, TX News – Cy-Fair Head Coach Inducted into GHFCA Hall of Honor

Cypress, TX News (May 20, 2014) - Cy-Fair High School head coach and athletic coordinator Ed Pustejovsky was inducted into the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association (GHFCA) Hall of Honor during the GHFCA spring awards ceremony at the University of Houston Carl Lewis Center on May 7.

Pustejovsky was one of four members inducted in the 23rd annual Hall of Honor class, along with Dan Ray Hooks of West Orange-Stark High School, Joe Tusa of Houston ISD and Tommy Zajicek of Sweeny High School.

Pustejovsky is one of 72 all-time GHFCA Hall of Honor inductees. Past CFISD inductees included Cypress Falls High School’s first-ever head coach Wayne Hooks (1998); former Cypress Creek High School head coach Les Koenning (1992); former Cy-Fair head coach Warren Trahan (2009); former Langham Creek head coaches Dennis Demel (2000) and Neal Quillen (1996); former Cy-Fair head coaches Tommy Ward (1994), Ray Ward (1999) and Ronny Peacock (2002); and Cypress Ridge head coach Gary Thiebaud (2013).

Pustejovsky is a graduate of Cy-Fair High School and Texas A&M University. He served as a part-time coach for Texas A&M for two seasons before returning to Cy-Fair as an offensive line coach for 23 seasons. He was then named head coach, a position he has held for 10 years.

Pustejovsky led the Bobcats to five district championships and 20 playoff games during his coaching tenure while leading them to the state quarterfinals three times and regional finals twice.  He is a six-time Touchdown Club of Houston Coach of the Year finalist and a three-time Houston Texans Coach of the Week.

“I am very humbled and honored to receive this recognition,” Pustejovsky said. “This is a credit to my coaching staff, our players, and our community. I have been very fortunate to be surrounded by quality people at Cy-Fair High School.”
