The 2014 Ambassador of the Year was awarded to Paul Brower with Entelrgy. “Paul is a tireless advocate for the Chamber,” Leslie Martone, President of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce said. “He enthusiastically welcomes new members and makes them feel instantly like a member of the family.” Other nominees for Ambassador of the Year were Maritza Ortega with Accredited Home Staging Professional, Verna Noack with Reach Unlimited, Inc. and Jody Castro with Your Community Magazine.
The 2014 Businesses of the Year were:

  • SMALL BUSINESSES – FEWER THAN 10 EMPLOYEES: Winner was i-Tech Technology Consulting, which was formed in 2000. The company’s growth can be attributed to its client-centric business model that provides superior customer service, custom solution and the propriety services it has developed to serve its customer base. i-Tech is a highly sought out company in the Cy-Fair community due to its incredible reputation and company culture. Finalists were Clean Pressure Wash and PrideStaff.
  • MEDIUM BUSINESSES – FEWER THAN 50 EMPLOYEES: Winner, Bridgeland, offers a harmonic balance between nature, homes and mixed-use development; it has created a reputation for itself as a leading master-planned community. Additionally, existing lakes and creeks were incorporated into the land plan as unique amenities. By embracing the area’s environmental significance, Bridgeland has created a multi-faceted and meaningful land use plan, truly bridging nature with development. Finalists were Liberty Mutual Insurance and Lucas Auto Care.
  • LARGE BUSINESSES – MORE THAN 50 EMPLOYEES: Winner, Kroger, ranks as one of the world’s largest retailers with more than 2,600 stores in 34 states. It has served as an innovator and pioneer in the food retail industry. Innovation is also at the heart of Kroger’s sustainability efforts, aimed at improving today to protect tomorrow. This innovation has been replicated by other retailers and today fresh products make up more than half of the food distributed nationwide by Feeding America, America’s largest food bank network. Finalists were Louetta Automotive and Reliant, an NRG Company.
  • NON-PROFIT: Winner, Cy-Hope, was birthed by a core group of people concerned about the children in our community. It serves as a catalyst to bring needs and solutions together, bringing hope to all children, so they will grow into educated and productive citizens. Its vision is to rally their entire community: businesses, education, civic organizations, hospitals and individual volunteers to advance the goal of making life better for kids in Cy-Fair. Finalists were Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County and Langham Creek Family YMCA.

After the awards dinner, the Chamber opened its doors to a night on Bourbon Street. The Mardi Gras-themed event included a casino, photo booth, live Jazz band and dance floor.
