Cypress, TX News – Cy-Fair ISD Seeks Volunteers for Bus Buddies

Cypress, TX News (August 6, 2014) – The Cy-Fair ISD transportation and community engagement departments will collaborate with the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce for the eighth annual Bus Buddies program, scheduled for the first three days of the 2014-2015 school year.

Volunteers in the community can sign up to become Bus Buddies, riding CFISD school buses on Aug. 25-27 from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. The goal of the program is to put new riders at ease and ensure the students are delivered to their proper drop-off points.

More than 350 volunteers and 53 local businesses and organizations participated in the seventh annual program in 2013, serving the district’s elementary schools.

Interested volunteers can register to be a Bus Buddy beginning Aug. 11 on the Bus Buddies webpage. No training is required to become a Bus Buddy this year.

“Bus Buddies is a successful program because our volunteers and business partners are committed to Lead the Way for our young bus riders during those first few days of school,” said Leslie Francis, director of marketing and business relations. “The effects of these positive relationships are lasting, and we look forward to even greater support in 2014.”
