Cypress, TX News – Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief – Amy Ramon

Cypress, TX News (July 28, 2014) - On behalf of the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors, we are happy to announce that after a nationwide search over the last several months, with more than fifty (50) qualified applicants, Amy Ramon has accepted the offer to be our Department’s new fire chief. Amy will officially assume her responsibilities as fire chief on July 25, 2014.

Chief, Amy Ramon

Amy was selected as the most qualified for the position after an intensive interview process with our search consultant, including participating in an all-day assessment center with the other top applicants. Amy has a Juris Doctorate degree with a Bachelor’s in business management. Amy has served in a variety of positions during her twenty-four (24) years with the Cy-Fair Fire Department, including Assistant Chief of EMS, Fire-EMS Lieutenant, Paramedic, Firefighter and Dispatcher. Amy is a Licensed Paramedic, SFFMA Advanced Firefighter and Instructor, and holds Emergency Fire and Medical Dispatch certifications. In addition, Amy has served as the General Manager for Harris County Emergency District #9 since 2002.

Our community has experienced significant growth over the last fifty years and is expected to grow even more in the near future. This growth has – and will – continue to present challenges for our Department as we continue to provide the high quality emergency services for which we are known. The Department could not – and will not – be able to provide the emergency services our community deserves without the hard work and dedication of our volunteer members and employees.

As one of the largest volunteer fire departments in the country, we face unique challenges. Recognizing this, our Department has undergone significant change over the last year, including but not limited to, changing our by-laws and electing a new Board of Directors. We are confident Amy is the right person to face the challenges and opportunities ahead.
