Cypress, TX News – Director of Nursing Wins Award for Professional Excellence

Cypress, TX News (March 13, 2015) - Glenn Dennis, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, director of nursing – Emergency, Critical Care, and Observation at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital received the American Association of Critical Care Nurses 2015 AACN Circle of Excellence Award. The organization grants the national award based on achievement of excellent outcomes in the care of acutely and critically ill patients and their families. In May 2015, Glenn will be honored at the 2015 AACN National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition in San Diego.

Glenn has been the director of nursing – Emergency and Observation since 2011 and was appointed director of nursing – Critical Care in 2013.

“Glenn’s previous experience in academia cultivated a focus on education and evidence-based practice, which has contributed to his ability to provide excellent leadership to important clinical initiatives such as early recognition and treatment of sepsis, use of hypothermia protocols, reduction of alarm fatigue and identification and reduction of delirium, to name a few,” said Sheila Fata, vice president and chief nursing officer, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. “His commitment to developing other clinicians and leaders ensures the cycle of patient-centered quality improvement continues beyond his direct intervention.”

In addition to an honorary plaque and financial award, Glenn will become a distinguished member of the Circle of Excellence Society.
