A team of students from Cypress Woods High School won its second consecutive HP CodeWards championship, held March 2 at the HP Houston main campus.
The team, consisting of seniors Nikoli Cartagena and Ben Lin, and junior Andrew Liu, wont the competition in the Advanced group with 123 points, ahead of second-place Paschal High School of Fort Worth with 122 points, and third-place Klein Oak High School.
In the Novice division, a team of Cypress Woods students featuring juniors Brendon Rhodes, Nick Ayoub, and Sam Rodriguez placed second behind champion Fort Bend Clements High School.
HP CodeWars is a computer science competition in which students solve as many programming challenges as possible in the span of three hours. Approximately 200 teams from across Texas participated in the 2013 event.
