Donation’s Needed for Back to School Drive

Cypress, TX News (June 30, 2015) – Every year, NAM hosts a Back to School Drive to provide supplies for local children in need. The drive benefits students in kindergarten through 12th grade, who attend school in several nearby districts, including parts of Cy-Fair. Last year, approximately 1,500 students received supplies from NAM.

Registration is currently underway for families in need, and more than 500 students have already signed up. To register, applicants may come to NAM’s main building at 15555 Kuykendahl Road in Houston (just south of FM 1960) from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Applicants will need to bring several documents when registering; for complete details please visit

Support from the community is also needed in order to raise $35,000 to purchase these supplies. A gift of $20 will furnish school supplies for one student, while $40 will provide uniforms for a first or second grade student. Local residents, businesses and community groups are encouraged to consider sponsoring one or more children. NAM purchases supplies in bulk so the cost is greatly reduced and your donation goes further.

“Part of the fun of a new school year is that fresh box of crayons, or brand new notebooks just waiting to be filled with creative ideas,” said Carole Little, President and CEO of NAM. “We want every student to be enthusiastic about school and have the tools to succeed. When children and teens are excited about learning, it can only mean good things for their futures.”

To donate, please visit and select “Give.” You may also send a check, payable to Northwest Assistance Ministries, to NAM at 15555 Kuykendahl Road, Houston, TX 77090.
