Five Schools Make State Finals of Young Filmmakers Festival

Cypress, TX (March 1, 2016) Students from five CFISD high schools are state finalists in the 2016 State UIL Young Filmmakers Festival, set for March 2 at the Paramount Theatre (713 Congress Ave.) in Austin.

Langham Creek High School junior Harrison Lazarus’ film, The Violinist, is one of six finalists in the Division 2 Documentary category. The story features Langham Creek student Amaris Piedra, a musician who shares her talent and insight as Lazarus takes viewers into her world.

“Harrison is a photographer and has an amazing eye for composition, color and storytelling,” said Brandy Milson, Lobo Media executive producer. “Although this is his first year in the class, I believe we will see more award-winning documentary films from him in the future.”
