H-E-B Donates $50,000 to American Red Cross Relief Efforts

Cypress, TX (April 21, 2016) H-E-B has donated$50,000 to the American Red Cross relief efforts assisting victims of the recent floods in the greater Houston area. H-E-B is also providing aid in response to the devastation with Disaster Relief Cleanup Kits to affected families.

H-E-B has assessed the Houston area communities with the greatest and most immediate needs, and is working to assist families as they recover from this severe weather event.  H-E-B volunteers are preparing home cleaning kits to provide affected families with much-needed supplies.

“We are committed to providing assistance during this time of crisis as many of our neighbors face loss and uncertainty due to the recent floods,” said Winell Herron, group vice president of public affairs, diversity and environmental affairs for H-E-B.  “It is our hope that H-E-B’s donations will help ease the recovery of our displaced neighbors.”

H-E-B has also provided support to local first responders and recovery teams though water donations for both victims and rescuers. The most recent delivery was to Houston Off-Road Recovery, a grassroots community organization that has been delivering food and water to those stranded by the high water or transporting them to dry land.  H-E-B volunteers have been working since the waters rose to distribute more than 63,000 bottles of water.

“We will continue to assist those in need as the recovery process continues,” said Herron.
