Houston Family Arts Center Selected as Top 5 Region Finalist for 4th Annual CLASSY Awards

Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) was selected from a pool of 2,400 nominations as a Top 5 Region Finalist for the 4th Annual CLASSY Awards.
The CLASSY Awards is the largest philanthropic awards ceremony in the country, celebrating the greatest achievements by nonprofit organizations, socially conscious businesses, and individuals worldwide.  This year’s CLASSY Awards Nominees impacted the lives of more than 346 million people in 134 countries.

HFAC’s Achievement Story was selected by StayClassy as a region finalist for the Most Creative Fundraiser by a Charity Category based on impact, originality, and category fit.  HFAC received this recognition for raising $144,000 in 70 days to provide transportation and housing and cover production costs for a cast of 27 Houston teens and young adults to perform in the prestigious 2011 NYMF – the largest annual musical theatre event in America.

“HFAC is honored to receive this national recognition,” says Bob Clark, HFAC Executive Director.  “We’re thrilled that CLASSY Awards has recognized the impact that we’re having in the theatre community in Houston and nationally.  It’s humbling to know that HFAC is the only theatre to be selected as a finalist in the 14 states that make up the South Region and the only finalist from Texas in our category.”

The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidate once per category per region by visiting http://www.stayclassy.org/classy-awards/vote. Voting ends at 11:59 P.M. PST on July 26, 2012.

While the public is casting their votes, a panel of Past CLASSY Awards Winners will judge and score each Regional Finalist based on impact, originality and category fit. The Regional Winners in each category will be determined by a combination of the Public Vote (50%) and the Past Winner Judges’ Scores (50%). The Regional Winners will be announced on July 31.

“We are asking for the support of all Houstonians to vote for our organization to help us move on to the next round by casting their votes by July 26,” Clark says.
