The Jersey Village High School girls’ and boys’ water polo teams both won the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) Water Polo Region 2 (East) championship, held April 18-20 in Cypress, to qualify for the TISCA Water Polo State Championship.
The TISCA Water Polo State Championship will be held May 3-4 at the Southlake Carroll ISD Aquatic Center. The top four teams from each of the four regions will compete in the 16-team championship.
“It’s been an exciting year for both the boys and girls water polo teams at Jersey Village,” said Stuart Webb, varsity swim coach and science teacher. “All the athletes have worked incredibly hard the last few years to improve their games, and it has really paid off.”
Webb was named Region 2 Coach of the Year following the regional tournament, while Jersey Village players Liddy Schoelman and Chris Ellis were named respective tournament MVPs of the girls’ and boys’ tournaments.
Jersey Village players Kayla Allen, Kyle Falke and Chase Miller won first-team all-region honors, while Jenny Cary was named to the second team. Both Mason Burk and Alex Mindiola earned honorable mention all-region honors.
