January & February 2012 Events
Cypress-area libraries have weekly events fun for the whole family all year long!
All events take place at Northwest Branch Library, 11355 Regency Green Dr., unless otherwise noted. All programs are free and open to the public.

Children’s Activities *Children’s programs require a ticket for admission. Tickets will be distributed beginning 30 minutes before the program begins.
1/28 Children’s Story & Craft* 2 p.m. For children ages 4-10. Cypress Creek High School Book Club will present a seasonal story and craft.
2/1 Infant Gymboree* 2 p.m. Non-walkers only. Encourage development through play and learning with this program designed to support your child’s growth at his/her own individual pace. From sensory stimulation to problem-solving games and storytelling, this class uses play-based activities to stretch the body and mind.
2/1 Para los Ninos/For the Children Story Time* 4:30 p.m. For the Children is a fun-filled, family-friendly parent workshop. The workshop encourages families to use library resources and teaches simple inexpensive activities that parents and children can do together to help children learn. Receive a free pass to the Children’s Museum when you attend.
2/11 Children’s Story & Craft* 10:30 a.m. For children ages 2-6. Cypress Creek High School FCCLA will present a story and craft.
2/18 Puppet Pizzazz African Folktales* 3 p.m. For children ages 3-10. Greg Ruhe shares his real life adventures of teaching puppetry in the Sudan while sharing an array of new puppets and stories inspired by his journey into Africa.
2/25 Children’s Story & Craft* 2 p.m. For children ages 4-10. Cypress Creek High School Book Club will present a seasonal story and craft.
Tuesdays Preschool Story Time* 10:30 a.m. For children ages 3-6. Children’s Librarian will read stories, lead everyone in song and direct the making of a craft project.
Wednesdays Baby Book Time* 2 p.m. For children ages 0-18 months. Children’s Librarian will read a simple story, lead everyone through the performance of nursery rhymes and songs and encourage interaction between caregivers and babies through the use of educational toys.
Thursdays Toddler Story Time* 10:30 a.m. For children ages 18-36 months. Children’s Librarian will read stories, lead everyone in song and direct the making of a craft project for this younger set.
Teen Activities
1/18 Movie Night 4 p.m. See a movie at the library.
1/25 iPad Game Night 4 p.m. Come learn about and play a new game app.
2/15 and 2/29 iPad Game Night 4 p.m. Come learn about and play a new game app each time.
2/8 and 2/22 Movie Night 4 p.m. See a movie at the library.
Adult Activities
1/23 Reader’s Perspective Book Club 2 p.m. A book club where members read books and share the books that they have read with other book-lovers! This month we are reading “Match Me If You Can” by Susan Elizabeth Phillip.
1/30 Classic Readers 2 p.m. Forgot all those books that you read in high school or college? Want to read all the greats? Want to reacquaint yourself with Austen, Carroll, Hawthorne, Poe, Steinbeck or Stevenson? Then join us once a month for our classic readers’ book club! This month we are reading “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy.
2/6 Inspirational Book Club 2 p.m. Enjoy reading and discussing the many wonderful works of Christian Fiction that are on the market today. Learn about the authors, the stories and discuss the ideas presented in the books. This month we are reading “Who Do I Lean On” by Neta Jackson.
2/7 Adult Craft 12 p.m. Enjoy crafting? Want to meet others that do, too? Each month, we will make something new and different. This month we are making mud cloth fabric.
2/20 Reader’s Perspective Book Club 2 p.m. A book club where members read books and share the books that they have read with other book-lovers. This month we are reading “Blood Brothers” by Nora Roberts.
2/27 Classic Readers 2 p.m. Forgot all those books that you read in high school or college? Want to read all the greats? Want to reacquaint yourself with Austen, Carroll, Hawthorne, Poe, Steinbeck or Stevenson? Then join us once a month for our classic readers book club! This month we are reading “Red Badge of Courage” by Stephen Crane.
Wednesdays Stress-Free Computer Class 12 p.m. These computer classes are designed for adults with a specific topic every week. The classes are an excellent opportunity to learn more about computers in a relaxed environment filled with smiles and laughter. All classes are free and open to the public.
Thursdays Sit and Stitch 10 a.m. Art you crafty? Come and join us for Sit & Stitch – bring knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, quilting or other projects!
