Cypress, TX (May 30, 2016) The Langham Creek High School baseball team defeated Pearland High School, 2 games to 1, in a best-of-three regional semifinal series to advance to the Region III-6A final this week.
The Lobos won Game 1, 1-0, on May 26, and the Oilers responded with a 5-4 Game 2 win on May 28. Langham Creek prevailed, 10-8, in the third and deciding game to advance to the furthest round in program history.
“We’ve never been this far,” said Langham Creek Head Coach Armando Sedeño. “We’ve always fallen short at this part of the dance. [This win is] a tribute to the type of district we have that puts us in those kinds of fights all the time. As long as we have a little life left we’re going to keep fighting.”
The Lobos advance to meet Deer Park High School in a best-of-three regional final series. All games will be played at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park (3100 Cullen Blvd.) on the University of Houston campus:
- Game 1 will be Thursday, June 2 at noon;
- Game 2 will be Friday, June 3 at 8 p.m.; and
- Game 3, if necessary, will be Saturday, June 4 at 1 p.m.
Tickets will be sold at the gate for $5 (students) and $8 a piece (adults).
“Deer Park is a great ball club and we’re going to be the underdogs,” said Sedeño. “But last time I checked we all put one sock on at a time.”
