Local Student wins Cy-Fair Mural Competition

A Cy-Fair ISD art contest was held recently by Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt for a mural concept to cover the large canvas of a blank wall at the Hwy 290 location.

Multiple entries for the contest were received from various Cy-Fair schools, but ultimately, the entry by Mitchel Krause of Salyard’s Middle School was voted the winner. It was selected as the most creative and in-line with the Orange Leaf vision. He received free 8 ounce yogurt certificates for each week of the entire summer.

The mural that Mitchel inspired has been painted on the wall at Orange Leaf by Cy-Woods art teacher, Charlotte Stuart and depicts many of the Cy-Fair area schools and “old” Cypress landmarks.  As an added prize, Krause’s school art department received $250 for art supplies.

Patrons can try their hand at locating the over 25 Orange Leaf logos hidden in the mural.  This is truly a one-of-a-kind painting of Cypress, Texas.
