Michaels, North America’s largest arts and crafts specialty retailer, announces a new store is scheduled to open in July at the Cypress Towne Center shopping center located at 25715 Northwest Freeway in Cypress, featuring a new store design that focuses on providing creative inspiration, fresh new products and an enhanced shopping experience.
“We’ve been working hard to bring Cypress a new Michaels and the community seems eager for us to open,” says Store Manager Kara Tiggeman. “We look forward to introducing customers to the new store design and helping them find everything they need for their next creative project.”
As part of Michaels’ community outreach, the new store will host a card-making event during its grand opening celebration and donate craft supplies to benefit the local Starlight Children’s Foundation chapter.
The new store features an open, uncluttered design with wider aisles, warm colors and brighter lighting. Key departments, such as jewelry, scrapbooking, and kids are expanded and re-organized for easy shopping.
The scrapbooking and paper crafts department features more than 3,000 styles of stickers and embellishments organized by themes like birthday, holiday, sports, and travel. New varieties of loose paper, card stock, and a vast assortment of punches, stamps and ink pads, edging, cutting and cropping tools, organizers, adhesives, and other necessities create a comprehensive selection for creating cards, home decor, personalized art, and scrapbook pages.
The expanded jewelry department has more than 6,000 different styles of open stock, pre-strung, and packaged beads including 1,900 bead strands, Swarovski crystals, specialty findings and tools for everyone from beginner to expert beader. Michaels offers customers a chance to learn new techniques through its jewelry making classes.
The kids’ department provides parents with a total solution to inspire their children’s imagination and creativity, featuring an expanded assortment of kids’ art supplies such as crayons, markers, paint, craft sticks, pom-poms, chenille stems, feathers, glitter, and much more for school and home projects, plus a large selection of Crayola® products, kids activity kits and Creatology® foam. The KnackSM, Michaels’ resource for parents and teachers, features fun events and engaging projects based on monthly themes like “Superheroes and Sidekicks”, “Color Fun”, and “Safari”.
The new store will be approximately 21,970 square feet and employ more than 60 people.
