Three AFJROTC Units Earn Distinguished Units with Merit Awards

Cypress, TX (May 4, 2016) Three CFISD Air Force Junior ROTC units have earned the highest unit level award possible. Unit TX-20016 at Cypress Springs High School, Unit TX-20057 at Cy-Fair High School and Unit TX-20061 at Langham Creek High School have been recognized as Distinguished Units with Merit for the 2015-2016 school year.

The objectives of the Junior ROTC program are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship and life skills; promote community service; instill responsibility, character and self-discipline through character education; and to provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.

In order to be recognized as a Distinguished Unit with Merit, a unit must earn an Exceeds Standards rating on their unit inspection as well as achieve a 100-percent on-time rating for all Headquarters directed JROTC actions.
