U.S. News & World Report ranks Methodist Hospital Best in Texas

The Methodist Hospital ranked among the country’s top hospitals in 13 specialties in U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 America’s “Best Hospitals”issue, and was named the number one hospital in Texas.

The Methodist Hospital also ranked number one in the Houston area in the magazine’s Best Metro Area Hospitals list. San Jacinto Methodist Hospital ranked number 7 in the metro area and number 12 in the state, and Methodist Willowbrook Hospital ranked number 10 in the metro area and number 37 in the state.

“Methodist earned these U.S. News rankings because our physicians, employees, and board members are wholly dedicated to providing our patients the highest quality care,” says Dr. Marc Boom, president and CEO of The Methodist Hospital System. “This impressive showing and our consistent ranking by U.S. News over the past two decades highlight this commitment.”

The hospitals ranked nationally by the magazine received a score that weighs reputation, mortality and a group of care-related factors such as nursing and technology. Each specialty lists the 50 highest-scoring hospitals.  In all, there are 4,793 hospitals eligible for the rankings, and only 148 were ranked as one of the nation’s best hospitals.
