Woodard Recognizes Home Builder for Generous Playground Donation

Cypress, TX (April 5, 2016) Woodard Elementary School Principal Susan Brenz presented an honorary plaque to representatives from home builder Taylor Morrison during the school’s staff meeting on April 5 for the builder’s generous donation to the campus.

Taylor Morrison, whose master-planned Alder Trails community feeds into Woodard, donated $15,000 in playground equipment to the school at the beginning of its inaugural 2015-2016 school year.

“It was our original piece of equipment on the playground. You should’ve seen the students’ faces when they walked outside and saw that huge piece of equipment,” Brenz said. “Having that from the very beginning allowed our kids to feel like they’ve been at a more established school. Taylor Morrison looks at the school as an extension of the community. They believe in partnering with the neighboring school so that there’s this seamless feel of ‘We’re all in this together.’”

Sales associate Olivia Bruecher and marketing associate Carly Crawford represented Taylor Morrison at the meeting, addressing staff on the importance of an educational partnership.

“It was important to show how we wanted to commit ourselves to the community and to Cypress-Fairbanks as a whole,” Bruecher said. “When Susan came to us she didn’t think the offer would be as generous as it was, but I was able to take it up the ladder and we were able to pay for the entire thing. It’s Important that the school knows we’re part of the community.”

Brenz said the donation was another example of the community aligning with Woodard’s slogan, “All In.”

“We have that saying, and the community beyond our borders also feels the same way,” she said. “It’s about contributing back to the kids.”
